___________________________________________What a rush it was, recording this! When I walked out of the Junk Room and headed off to bed at about 2AM, I was tingling. I mean tingling. The excitement of what I’d just done was more than I could put down for the night. I finished and prayed, believing with all my heart that I was finally doing exactly what God had created me to do.
I knew, going in, that this would either need to be an enormous production or something very raw and simple. I just couldn’t resist layering tons of vocal though, so I opted for the bigger sound. Although, I hope it has elements of both. I absolutely love the sound of this…the feel, the rise and fall…the “choir” in the background. It’s exactly what I had in mind.
The "choir", by the way, is me. Just me. No keyboards or synthesizers. No computer manipulation or vocal doubling. Just voices, recorded over and over and over, ad nauseum. Normally, I record 4 to 6 tracks of music, total. Sometimes only 2. But this song has 13 tracks! 4 guitars and 9 vocals, all layered and reverbed and stacked all on top of each other. It was a challenge to keep it all straight in my head, the more vocal tracks I laid down. But in the end, it worked, I think.
I hope everyone will enjoy hearing it as much as I have, recording it. When I listen back to this, and think about the words I’m singing and feel the pulse of the voices, I picture Christ and imagine worshiping Him in the most fascinating of settings. Angels around. Very ethereal and “heavenly”. And I get teary-eyed, every single time. Something about it makes me feel like I’m kneeling right at His feet.
I pray that the Holy Spirit will use this recording to reach people in a very special way!
